Exploring the Transformative Power of AI – ChatGPT and the Future of Human-AI Collaboration

An interview with Prajakta Kadam and Vishek Pratap by Dehla Sokenou and Lukas Zühl

In anticipation of Prajakta Kadam's and Vishek Pratap's session, AI Is Changing Our Job Roles, Dehla Sokenou and Lukas Zühl (both WPS - Workplace Solutions) had a number of questions for them, e.g.: How can we use AI tools like ChatGPT to improve our skills? And how will the relationship between humans and AI evolve in the workplace?

In your talk, you mention upgrading oneself in the "ChatGPT world." Could you elaborate on what you mean by the "ChatGPT world" and how individuals can leverage AI tools like GPT-3 to enhance their skill sets?

Before November 30, 2022, everyone relied on Google for their day-to-day queries. Afterward, everyone became dependent on ChatGPT, and the hype was created that ChatGPT is the savior of everyone. From developers to students and industrialists to the common person, everyone started using ChatGPT, and it became a necessary tool in daily life. Nowadays, everyone is directly or indirectly dependent on AI. This is the ChatGPT world, where everything becomes available with a single click, and people prefer to use it rather than spend time on research, as they find it a waste of time and energy. These days, students purchase subscriptions rather than books because they find these tools more useful and accurate than referring to different writers and theories. Using ChatGPT, we can access information with a single touch and an easy user interface. As ChatGPT provides us with resources, we can enhance our skills by using it in the right direction, along with productivity tools.

AI's impact on job roles extends beyond technical positions. How, in your opinion, can non-technical roles benefit from understanding and integrating AI and machine learning concepts into their domain expertise?

Science is making machines smart, and non-technical roles will also benefit in this era. It is not necessary to have a tech degree or come from a tech background. If you are fascinated by AI and want to grow in this field, you don't need a degree or certificate to prove yourself, as everything is available for free in open source. Furthermore, it's not just about enhancing knowledge but also making oneself smarter with free tools.

As AI continues to evolve, how do you see the relationship between humans and AI in the workplace evolving? What roles do you foresee AI playing in enhancing human productivity and creativity?

ChatGPT is nothing but human intelligence integrated into machines. We are accustomed to AI, and in many industries, AI and humans are working together. TechValley's mission is "we believe in collaboration, not competition," emphasizing the necessity of collaboration for performing tasks, as businesses expand by combining AI and human capabilities. AI systems can assist humans in various tasks, from decision-making to art creation. Several companies have recently explored applications of sequence-to-sequence models using deep neural networks and predictive models based on user profiles and interaction history. A prime example of humans using AI in daily life is Snapchat or Instagram filters.

Is the fear that AI will completely change our world and replace human jobs justified? Can you provide an example of where you think this will happen or may AI on the other hand create more jobs by enabling humans?

Yes, AI can take over some tasks, but this world still needs humans as leaders. AI works like humans in some areas but cannot replace them entirely. AI will undoubtedly create new jobs in the future, and a change in perspective is needed.

From your point of view, should humans adapt to AI, or should we better adapt AI to us humans?

We need to adapt to AI, as the world is undergoing revolutionary changes with new technologies. We must upgrade ourselves to keep pace with these technological advancements and be part of this era, ensuring that we remain relevant in our jobs.

Looking towards the future, for example, in 10 or 20 years: Who do you think will develop software, humans, AI, or both in collaboration?

Currently, AI tools are used for coding and providing effective solutions. In our opinion, humans will still exist in the software development field 10 or 20 years from now. There will be an amazing collaboration between AI and humans to develop the best software, leading to another technological journey that offers greater comfort and ease.
