Carola Lilienthal

Carola Lilienthal studied computer science at the University of Hamburg from 1988 to 1995, and in 2008 she received her doctoral degree in computer science at the University of Hamburg (Supervising Professors: Christiane Floyd and Claus Lewerentz). Today, Dr. Carola Lilienthal is managing director of WPS – Workplace Solutions GmbH and is responsible for the department of software architecture. Since 2003, Dr. Carola Lilienthal has been analyzing architecture in Java, C #, C ++, ABAP and PHP throughout Germany, and advising development teams on how to improve the longevity of their software systems. In 2015, she summarized her experiences from over a hundred analyzes in the book ‘Long-living software architectures’. She is particularly interested in the education of software architects, which is why she is an active member of iSAQB, the International Software Architecture Quality Board e.V., and regularly disseminates her knowledge at conferences, in articles and training courses.

Mahbouba Gharbi’s professional range includes activities as a software architect, trainer, system developer, reviewer, and lecturer. On top of that, she is CEO of the ITech Progress GmbH and has specialized in design and development of software architectures of medium to large software systems over a period of more than 15 years. In the field of architecture assessment, she contributes years of professional experience as well as the necessary enthusiasm, which she passes on to her audience through lectures. As co-founder and board chairwoman of the International Software Architecture Qualification Board (iSAQB), she is also actively involved in the creation of standardized curricula and training plans for software architects.

Uwe Friedrichsen is a long-time traveler in the IT world. As CTO of codecentric AG, he is always on the lookout for innovative ideas and concepts. His current focus topics are (distributed) system design and the IT of (over)tomorrow. He regularly shares and discusses his ideas at conferences, as an author of articles, blogposts, tweets and in direct conversation.

Dr. Rebecca Parsons is ThoughtWorks’ Chief Technology Officer. She has more years’ application development experience than she cares to admit. She has extensive experience leading in the creation of large-scale applications, services based applications and advising architecture teams.

Before coming to ThoughtWorks she worked as an assistant professor of computer science at the University of Central Florida where she taught courses in compilers, program optimization, distributed computation, programming languages, theory of computation, machine learning and computational biology. She also worked as Director’s Post Doctoral Fellow at the Los Alamos National Laboratory researching issues in parallel and distributed computation, genetic algorithms, computational biology and non-linear dynamical systems. Rebecca received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Economics from Bradley University, a Masters of Science in Computer Science from Rice University and her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rice University.
